Biography
Elizabeth, the youngest daughter of Patrick O’Sullivan and Margaret Morgan was born at 173 Bourke Road, West Melbourne, on 20 June 1869. Elizabeth was the youngest of four surviving children. Little is known of her childhood and education, at the time of her marriage Elizabeth was a dressmaker.
In 1895 Elizabeth married William Sullivan. William and Elizabeth had six children. Veronica, their eldest child was born in Moray Street South Melbourne. William, the youngest son’s birth certificate indicates that by 1919 the family had moved to 37 Victoria Avenue Albert Park and by 1917 the family lived at “Carmel” 35 Carroll Crescent East Malvern(this property address later changing to 53 Carroll Crescent Glen Iris).
Veronica and Patricia married and had children. Elizabeth became “Bigmum” to much loved grandchildren. Lily married Joe Sheehan and lived in Toorak Road South Camberwell. Kathleen became a Brigidine Sister and William became a De La Salle Brother. Both Kathleen and William taught in a variety of schools operated by their respective religious orders. Unfortunately the writer knows little of the life of their sister Moya.
Elizabeth died at 53 Carroll Crescent on 30 October 1961.
